The Story of Luwak Coffee
This story come from Sumatra Island of Indonesia, an area well known for its excellent coffee. From this island also there is a small animal civet like called mongoose (luwak) that like to eat ripe coffee bean, and cherry bean and other kind of small sweat bean. On the stomach of mongoose coffee bean there is a biological treatments and fermentation. After through all process on the stomach, then the bean will exist together with feces. Coffee bean then collected from the forest and washed then dried exposed to the sun. The resulting coffee is said different with other coffee; it has a rich, heavy flavor with hint of caramel or chocolate. This make the luwak coffee more expensive than other kind of coffee, beside have special aroma, this coffee also very rare, because the production can’t much.
So this story is not just fake story but this coffee is real come from Indonesia, through the dark of forest. Sumatra have a big coffee plantation and have a weird coffee. Currently luwak coffee didn’t come from forest but this coffee more deliberately produce, the farmer have mongoose at home and feed with coffee every day, and everyday also they have luwak coffee but not too much.
